1. What Sidekick Is

Sidekick connects MCP-compatible clients to Adobe InDesign, allowing AI assistants to interact with InDesign documents. The product consists of two components:

  • A UXP plugin for Adobe InDesign, distributed through Adobe Exchange
  • An MCP server application, downloaded from our website

By using Sidekick, you agree to these terms.

2. License

We grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use Sidekick for the duration of your active subscription. You may install Sidekick on multiple machines for your own use. You may not redistribute, reverse-engineer, or resell Sidekick. You must be at least 18 years old to subscribe to and use Sidekick.

3. Intellectual Property

You retain all rights to your InDesign documents. We retain all rights to Sidekick, including its code, design, and documentation.

4. Updates

Your subscription includes all updates while your subscription is active, regardless of version. Sidekick checks for updates automatically and downloads them in the background. When your subscription ends, you will no longer receive updates.

5. Payment

Sidekick is available through Adobe Exchange as a subscription. A free trial may be available through Adobe Exchange. Billing, subscription management, cancellation, and any refunds are governed entirely by Adobe's terms and policies. We do not process payments directly. Questions about billing should be directed to Adobe.

6. Third-Party Dependencies

Sidekick's functionality depends on systems outside our control:

  • Adobe InDesign and Adobe Exchange — Sidekick requires Adobe InDesign and is distributed through Adobe Exchange. If Adobe changes InDesign's extension APIs, modifies UXP capabilities, or removes our plugin from Exchange, Sidekick may stop working partially or entirely. We will make reasonable efforts to maintain compatibility, but cannot guarantee uninterrupted service.
  • MCP clients and AI models — Sidekick enables communication between InDesign and MCP clients. The quality and safety of AI-generated actions depend entirely on the MCP client and the underlying AI model (such as Claude, GPT, or others). We have no control over what these systems do.

You acknowledge that Sidekick is middleware connecting systems we do not control, and that its usefulness depends on those systems remaining available and compatible.

7. Your Responsibilities

You are responsible for:

  • Maintaining backups of your InDesign documents
  • Reviewing AI-generated changes before saving or publishing
  • Ensuring your use of AI assistants complies with their respective terms of service
  • Using Sidekick in compliance with applicable laws

8. What We Do Not Warrant

Sidekick is provided "as is." We do not warrant that:

  • Sidekick will be available without interruption
  • Sidekick will remain compatible with future versions of InDesign or MCP clients
  • AI assistants will produce accurate, appropriate, or safe outputs
  • Your documents will not be damaged or corrupted

To the extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by Dutch law:

  • We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages
  • We are not liable for loss of data, documents, or work product
  • We are not liable for any damages arising from AI-generated content or actions
  • Our total liability for any claim related to Sidekick is limited to the amount you paid for Sidekick

These limitations apply regardless of the legal theory (contract, tort, or otherwise) and even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

10. Termination

Your license to use Sidekick remains active only while your subscription is current. When your subscription expires or is cancelled, your license terminates and Sidekick will stop working. You may resubscribe at any time to regain access. Your license also terminates automatically if you breach these terms.

We may discontinue Sidekick at any time. If we do, we will make reasonable efforts to provide notice, but are not obligated to maintain, update, or support Sidekick indefinitely.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be posted on our website. Continued use of Sidekick after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the new terms.

12. Governing Law

These terms are governed by Dutch law. Any disputes will be resolved exclusively by the courts of Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
