Which assistant do you use?
Download and double-click.
Claude Desktop opens, installs the extension, and connects to InDesign on its own.
Double-clicking didn't open Claude Desktop?
If Claude Desktop doesn't open when you double-click the
.mcpb file, install
it by hand:
- Open Claude Desktop
- Go to Settings (gear icon) → Advanced Settings

Click Install Extension and select
the downloaded
.mcpbfile

1. Run the installer
Double-click the downloaded installer and follow the prompts.
I got a “Windows protected your PC” message
Our installers aren't signed yet, so Windows shows a SmartScreen warning. To proceed:
- Click More info
- Click Run anyway

2. Verify the install
Open a terminal and run:
indesign-sidekick -
3. Configure your MCP client
Follow your tool's instructions to add an MCP server. Point it at
indesign-sidekick start.
