Model Context Protocol
MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard that allows AI assistants to interact with external tools and applications. Instead of just chatting, AI can actually do things — read files, query databases, or in Sidekick's case, control InDesign.
Think of MCP as a universal language that lets AI assistants talk to desktop applications. Sidekick implements an MCP server that translates your requests into InDesign commands.
What is MCPB?
MCPB (MCP Bundle) is Claude's native extension format for one-click installation of MCP servers. Double-click an .mcpb file and it's installed — no terminal commands required.
Not all MCP clients support MCPB yet. If yours doesn't, you can install Sidekick manually instead.
