When Sidekick can't reach your AI Assistant

Sidekick can’t reach your AI Assistant at all. The most common cause is that the AI Assistant simply isn’t open yet.

What to check:

  1. Is your AI Assistant (Claude Desktop, Claude Code, etc.) running? Look for it in your dock, system tray, or task bar.
  2. If it’s running, is the Sidekick extension installed and enabled?

What to do:

  1. Open your AI Assistant if it isn’t already.
  2. Wait a few seconds — Sidekick will reconnect on its own and switch to “Connected”.

If the panel stays on this message even with the AI Assistant open, the extension might not be installed correctly. See the install guide to verify your setup.
